It’s for ages been a regarded indisputable fact that wine draws gnats. There’s even mention of it inside the Bible. Putting aside a glass of wine has been recommended for isolating gnats at outdoor gatherings. From the estimated forty eight million U.S. adults that call themselves wine drinkers, we're able to assume that the vast majority of them at least at times enjoy a glass of wine in some outside locale. Whenever they do, they have probably encountered having their glass of wine invaded by a gnat, mosquito, or insect. It happens…all the time.
The only solution is to prevent the intruders from going into the glass in the first place. How? Using our wine glass cover! Presently, wine drinkers improvise by utilizing cocktail napkins, or if it’s windy, perhaps a paper plate, dvd case, paperback book, coaster, coffee saucer or inverted coffee filter. The issue is, none of these items are reliable for the purpose. They’re often too light and get blown off, or uneven so they let gnats in regardless, or too heavy or unsound and can damage the glass, or they’re too thick or solid, so the glass begins to sweat inside and it sours the wine.
The answer is the wine-tapa. It’s created from hard plastic, is a touch over 4 inches in diameter and about a half-inch deep. It's center is a 2-inch diameter opening, composed of very dense stainless steel mesh. Its underside includes an inch-wide gasket around the external perimeter, created from a rubbery FDA-compliant material. This gasket serves fundamentally three purposes:
This is especially significant, since it allows the Wine Sentinel to be made in one size. Since the gasket is an inch wide, it can support wine glasses whose rims are of between 2 to 4 ins in diameter, including fundamentally all but the narrowest champagne flute or the largest Bordeaux glass. Notably, the center opening of our wine accessories enable the wine to continue to breathe and decant, without allowing any unwanted intrusion. It’s discreet, interesting and most of all practical.
